Why did I decide to place the viewfinder where I did?
- various tonal values
- variety of lines and marks
- compressed and regular charcoal used (difference is visible)
- finger smudges
- small and large marks, long and short lines, triangular shapes
- dynamic - circular marks like wheels, sharp marks of compressed charcoal (short stabbing motion on page)
Problems I encountered when trying to replicate this section on a larger scale:
- replicating marks was difficult due to the size of the charcoal
- spent too long on it and made sections too dark
- next enlargement: will use one that has minimal white space
- need to use rubber to remedy areas that should be lighter
- finger prints hard to recreate
Section for larger group piece
- I originally chose quite a dense section with minimal white space, however Tulaa and Jack chose quite minimal, light sections so I decided to change where my viewfinder was as to make our sections blend better as one piece of art.
